Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking an optometrist to perform routine procedures under the supervision of an exempt optometrist or designee, applying independent professional judgment within state laws and TPMG policies. The role emphasizes comprehensive eye care, documentation, and collaboration with optical and ophthalmology teams.

The successful candidate will hold an OD from an accredited school, a California license, and TPA certification if applicable.

Qualifications

• OD degree from an accredited School of Optometry. 1 year desired but not required.
• Optometrist License (California) required at hire.
• Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) required for external employees hired after November 2009.
• Natl Provider Identifier (NPI) required or to be obtained prior to employment start date.

Responsabilités

• Conducts and documents history including chief complaint, relevant symptoms and ocular health data.
• Performs testing and documents findings using standard ophthalmic equipment (retinoscopy, refraction, lensometry, visual fields, slit lamp, ophthalmoscopy, gonioscopy, tear function tests, etc.).
• Interprets exam data, makes clinical diagnoses, documents impressions and plan, and referrals as needed.
• Communicates with optical, ophthalmology, support staff and OD teams to optimize care; attends staff meetings; helps identify system problems and solutions.
• Maintains licensing and job requirements (CE, CPR, safety training, PPD).
• Ddictates/writes referral letters and completes related forms; handles school forms, DMV, FAA documents when appropriate.
