Job summary

Visionworks is seeking an OD Tech/Optometric Assistant in Ashland, KY. You will be the first face patients see, guiding them through preliminary testing, eye health basics, and product options with a friendly and helpful approach.

This role requires caring customer service, basic records handling, and a readiness to assist both the exam and sales teams to ensure a smooth patient journey.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate patient records before conducting preliminary testing.
• Introduce patients to the optometrist and convey important patient information.
• Assist with transitioning patients from exam to sales floor and inform staff to meet eye care needs.
• Support store operations for the exam lane, including restocking inventory and cleaning equipment.
• Assist with opening/closing the store to support daily business.

Pay Class: Full Time

Pay: $12 - 13.50 per hour

The Role:

A VisionworksOD Tech/Optometric Assistantis the very face of our Exam Practice and is dedicated to ensuring the best possible journey for every patient. This person is trained and knowledgeable about eye health and preliminary testing, optics, our products/services and managed vision care. The OD Tech personally takes the patient through the first steps of the Visionworks experience ensuring their eye exam needs are met in a simple, human and bold way.

• Maintain complete and accurate patient records before conducing preliminary testing
• Introduce patient to OD and provide OD with important patient information
• Transition patientfrom doctor to sales floor and provide associates necessary information to educate and recommend products and services that meet their eye care needs
• Execute day-to-day operational activities to support the store's exam lane maintenance and patient experience goals including: restocking inventory, cleaning equipment, and answering phones to meet additional patient needs
• Will open/close the store/office to support business asneeded

Qualifications:

• Related customer or patient experience preferred, but not necessary
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
