Job summary

Veiovis, LLC. is seeking a detail-oriented optometry support staff member to process patient information and manage appointment flow. You will perform pre-testing such as auto refraction and tonometry, and assist with diagnostic testing, including OCT and fundus photography.

The role involves maintaining reception records, assisting with referrals and letters, and ensuring inventory and equipment sanitation. Training is provided, and a cooperative team is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Processes patient information through the computer system and maintains reception records and exam room area.
  • Retrieves patient records from other clinics to ensure complete information before appointment date.
  • Manages continuous patient flow by communicating with team members and providers.
  • Prepares referrals, letters, prescriptions for providers to sign and staff consult letters to primary care and specialty care providers.
  • Conducts inventory of supplies and stock examination rooms, maintaining stock and disposing of expired items.
  • Disinfects and cleans equipment and instruments before and after use.
  • Performs pre-testing and tests with appropriate equipment.
  • Performs screening for Occupational Health Services.
  • Rotates duties between exam area and front desk, understands insurance coverages.
  • Performs other duties including optical tasks, inventory, invoices and patient pickups.

Job Summary

Reports directly to the Optometry Clinical/Administrative Team Lead. Able to process patientinformation through the computer system and maintain appointment schedules for an efficient patientflow for each provider. And responsible for conducting pre-testing and special testing for the following equipment and instruments:

  • Pre-testing I – auto refraction, lensometry, tonometry and topography.
  • Pre-testing II – preliminary case history including current medical conditions. Ability to conduct visual acuities, color vision screening, dial in Phoropter and eye drop instillation.
  • Diagnostic testing – Visual field, Optec vision screener, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), Fundusphotography.

Also responsible for processing patient’s information through the computer system and helps maintain the operations of the reception electronic records and examination room area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processes patient’s information through the computer system and helps maintain the operation ofthe reception electronic records and examination room area.
  • Retrieves patient records from other clinics to ensure complete information on file beforeappointment date.
  • Manages continuous patient flow by effectively communicating with team members and providers.
  • Prepares referrals, work and/or school excuse letters, prepare prescriptions for providers to sign andstaff consult letters to primary care and specialty care providers.
  • Conducts inventory of supplies and stock examination rooms. Verifies and maintains stock level andrecommends disposal for all expired supply items.
  • Disinfects and wipes down all equipment and instruments before and after use.
  • Conducts pre-testing and special testing for the following equipment and instruments:
    • Pre-testing I – auto refraction, lensometry, tonometry and topography.
    • Pre-testing II – preliminary case history including current medical conditions. Ability to conduct visualacuities, color vision screening, dial in Phoropter and eye drop instillation.
    • Diagnostic testing – Visual field, Optec vision screener, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), Fundusphotography.
  • Performs screening for Occupational Health Services.
  • Rotation of duties from exam area to front check in/check out, knowledge of insurance coverages.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time such as Optical duties (inventory oftrial contact lenses, ordering and stocking inventory items, process invoices, contact patient(s) forpick up and any other assigned duties.
Education and Experience
  1. 1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2. No previous experience in optometry is necessary. Comprehensive training will be provided to equipthe selected individual for successful performance in this role.
  3. 3. Effective team player. With very good interpersonal relationship skills and can work and relate wellwith co-employees, patients and customers.
  4. 4. Must have the behavioral sensitivity, maturity, diplomacy and tact in addressing complex situationsand handling irate customers.
  5. 5. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  6. 6. Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.
  7. 7. Must have basic familiarity on federal and state laws and requirements relating to healthcare management.
  8. 8. Computer-literate and proficient in using MS office programs.
