Hours
- Full Time
- Office hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 am‑6 pm, Saturday 8 am‑12 pm. Availability for any shift within these hours is required. Earlier or later shifts and weekend work may be necessary.

Essential Functions
- Facilitate patient flow
- Assist the doctor in preliminary testing
- Verify medical and vision insurances
- Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
- Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in‑person requests
Job Summary
An Optometric Technician is a valuable asset to an optometrist, assisting in providing a world‑class Total Patient Experience. This team member handles a wide range of duties while using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Optometrist.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Embark on and deliver our Total Patient Experience, building relationships with all patients while providing excellent medical support.
- Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly, and thank them upon departure.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
- Operate manual lensometer, auto‑lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX or OCT.
- Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.).
- Clean all examination equipment, including tonometer tip.
- Set phoropter to patient RX or reset to plano per doctor ’s request.
- Interact with all levels of staff in a courteous, professional manner.
- Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned.
- Seek to gain industry knowledge and training.
- Demonstrate initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
- Consistently create a positive work environment by being team‑oriented and patient‑focused.
- Commit to work hours that meet business needs, which may include weekends or extended schedules.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while performing duties, supporting a culture of high quality and customer service.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the organization.
Patient Population Served
- Team members will work with patients of all ages, races, and genders.
Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Previous medical office experience preferred; previous optometric experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year in a customer/patient‑facing role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Favorable result on background check as required by state.
- Proof of identity and right to work in the United States.

- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines.

Location
The work takes place in a normal office/clinical environment. Travel to other locations may be necessary to fulfill essential duties; those requiring travel must have dependable transportation and a driving record that meets company liability carrier standards.
Exposure
Works in a normal office environment during normal business hours. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids and various cleaning supplies.
Equipment
Regularly uses optometric equipment/devices such as lensometer, keratometer/autorefractor, phoropter, visual acuity measuring instruments, retinal camera, corneal topography unit, retinoscope, telephone, computer, fax, printer, and copier. Must work with precise tools and equipment; dexterity required. Personal Protective Equipment follows standard precautions using PPE.
