Job summary

Grene Vision Group in Wichita, KS is seeking an Optometric Technician to support an optometrist by performing initial testing and facilitating a world-class Total Patient Experience.

You will operate standard optometric equipment, verify insurances, and communicate clearly with patients, doctors, and staff while delivering accurate test results and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in medical office preferred; optometry experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor with preliminary testing.
  • Verify medical and vision insurances and communicate with patients.
  • Answer inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
  • Operate optometric equipment safely and follow testing protocols.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and professional patient interactions.
  • Perform general office duties as assigned by management.

  • Office hours Monday‑Friday 7:30 am‑6 pm, Saturday 8:00 am‑12 pm (flexible availability required)

Job Summary

An Optometric Technician assists an optometrist in providing a world‑class Total Patient Experience, using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Optometrist.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support
  • Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA
  • Practice urgency at all times placing value on a patient's time, as well as the doctor's time and schedule
  • Operate manual lensometer, auto‑lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX or OCT
  • Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.)
  • Clean all examination equipment including tonometer tip
  • Set phoropter to patient RX or re‑set to plano (per doctor's request)
  • Interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by manager
  • Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
  • Demonstrate initiative in accomplishing practice goals
  • Consistently create a positive work environment by being team‑oriented and patient‑focused
  • Commit to work hours that meet the needs of the business, which may include weekends, schedule changes or an extended schedule
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service
  • Perform other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization

Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management preferred
Experience Requirements
  • Previous medical office experience preferred; previous optometric experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Favorable result on background check as required by state
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Regularly uses optometric equipment/devices (e.g., lensometer, keratometer/autorefractor, phoropter, visual acuity measuring devices, retinal camera, corneal topography unit, retinoscope, telephone, computer, fax, printer, copier). Must operate these tools safely and with dexterity; personal protective equipment follows standard precautions.
