Job summary

SVS Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support the Doctor of Optometry and enhance patient satisfaction across our Michigan-based network with 80+ offices. This role reports to the Professional Services Department and emphasizes teamwork, efficiency, and high-quality care.

The position involves refraction, ocular testing, and assisting with exam flow, while maintaining patient comfort and accurate records in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial proficiency in computer applications (EHRs likely).
• Basic understanding of health care protocol.
• Professional communication skills with patients and staff.
• Strong attention to detail for exams and documentation.
• Responds professionally to difficult inquiries.
• Adaptable to changes in clinic workflow.
• Teamwork oriented within a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assists in improving exam efficiency and elevating patient experience.
• Communicates with the retail office management and staff.
• Prepares the clinic day with strong organizational skills.
• Perform refraction and related ophthalmic tests as assigned.
• Review case history including current medical conditions.
• Administer tests: non-contact tonometry, auto-refractor, visual acuity.
• Operate lensometer, visual field testing, fundus photography, OCT.
• Assist eye drop instillation and other procedures directed by OD.
• Hands-off patient care to the OD when needed.
