Job summary

SVS Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician in Michigan to support the Doctor of Optometry, enhance patient satisfaction, and increase exam efficiency. The role reports to the Professional Services Department and offers a team-oriented, growth-friendly environment.

Responsibilities include refraction, tonometry, imaging, and testing, with strong emphasis on patient care, accurate documentation, and professional communication with staff and patients. Prior optics exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proficient with general computer applications and healthcare workflows.
• Clear, professional communication with patients and staff.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in clinical tasks.
• Able to respond calmly to difficult inquiries and adapt to change.
• Teamwork oriented and collaborative in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in improving exam efficiency and patient experience.
• Coordinate with retail office management and staff.
• Prepare clinic day and maintain strong organizational skills.
• Perform refraction and related ophthalmic testing.
• Review case history and monitor current medical conditions.
• Operate non-contact tonometry and auto-refractor equipment.
• Conduct visual acuity testing and blood pressure measurement.
• Handle lensometer and fundus photography as directed.
• Support OCT testing and eye drop instillation as needed.
• Assist OD with hands-off patient care as required.

The Ophthalmic Technician provides clinical support for the Doctor of Optometry (OD) to increase patient satisfaction and elevate exam efficiency. This positionreports to the Professional Services Department.
