Job Summary

Rochester Eye Care Associates is looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optometric Technician to join our patient-care team. Eye care experience is welcome, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person. If you enjoy working with people, learn technology quickly, pay attention to details, and like being part of a busy healthcare team, this is an excellent opportunity to develop specialized skills and build a career in eye care. Our technicians play an important role in the patient experience. You'll work closely with our optometrists, prepare patients for examinations, perform diagnostic testing, accurately document patient information, and help keep patient care running smoothly throughout the day.

Job Responsibilities

  • Explain testing procedures and provide patients with clear instructions to obtain accurate results.
  • Accurately document patient information and testing results in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Assist optometrists throughout the patient-care process as needed.
  • Educate and instruct patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and proper care.
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the practice to provide an excellent patient experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous optometric, ophthalmic, medical, or patient-care experience is preferred but not required.
  • Friendly and professional when interacting with patients of all ages.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable learning new technology, equipment, and software.
  • Able to multitask while maintaining accuracy in a busy healthcare environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in healthcare and patient care.
