Job summary

Vision Associates of Prospect is seeking an Optometric Technician I to join our Prospect, CT practice. You will support optometrists with pre-screening, tests, patient education, and follow-up to ensure a seamless visit.

You’ll gather patient histories, verify benefits, train patients on contact lens use, and help schedule appointments while maintaining smooth clinic flow. Ideal candidates have 1+ year in customer service and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience, optometric experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Team-oriented and eager to learn new skills.
• Detail-focused with accurate documentation of patient exams.

• Assist optometrists in delivering outstanding patient care, from pre-screening to post-exam follow-up
• Perform diagnostic tests, gather patient medical histories, and assist in educating patients about their vision benefits
• Guide patients in contact lens training, insurance verification, and scheduling their next visit
• Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating appointments and managing office communications
• Work closely with your team to meet individual and collective goals for optimal patient care and satisfaction

What We’re Looking For:

• 1+ year of experience in customer service (optometric experience preferred but not required!)
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate and connect with patients
• Strong organizational and time management abilities—you’ll be multitasking in a fast-paced environment
