Job summary

Wolfe Eye Clinic in Cedar Falls is seeking an Optometric Assistant to support the optometrist during patient visits and provide comprehensive care. You will perform patient workups, assist with diagnostic testing, document histories in the EMR, and assist with contact lens orders.

Travel to the Waterloo clinic is required to support multiple locations; mileage and time on the road are reimbursed. The ideal candidate has medical office experience, strong communication, and excellent patient

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office is required.
• Experience with EMR or medical office software preferred.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Previous optical or ophthalmic experience preferred but training may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist during clinic visits.
• Perform patient workups and diagnostic testing (refraction, retinoscopy, keratometry, OCT, visual fields, and tonometry).
• Document medical and ocular histories in the EMR.
• Order contact lenses and provide patient education.
• Answer and triage calls from patients.
• Sterilize exam rooms and maintain clinic cleanliness.
• Travel to Waterloo clinic when needed; mileage and time on the road are reimbursed.

Optometric AssistantAt Wolfe Eye clinic, we create Better Vision for a Better Life.We have an immediate opening for an Optometric Assistant based in the Cedar Falls Clinic.This position will assist the Optometrist during clinic to provide comprehensive care for our patients.Responsibilities:Assisting the Optometrist during clinic.Performing patient workups.Performing diagnostic testing such as manual-refraction, retinoscopy, keratometry, OCT’s, visual fields, pressure checks and tonometryDocumenting medical and ocular histories into electronic medical recordsOrdering contact lenses.Providing Patient Education.Answering and triaging calls from patients.Responding to tasks.Completing paperwork and maintaining patient documentation in the electronic medical record.Sterilizing exam rooms.Monitoring the patient schedule to ensure clinic maintains efficiency.Travel to Waterloo clinic based on clinic need.Performing other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Detailed orientatedPrevious experience in a medical office.Previous experience with electronic medical record or medical office software.Able to work both independently and in a team environmentExcellent time management skillsHave excellent patient service skillsMaintain excellent communication skillsPrevious optical or ophthalmic experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.Daytime travel is required.
