Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an associate professional staff member in the Optics and Photonics Group in Laurel, MD. The role focuses on software-based data analysis and hands-on lab experiments in optics and photonics research.

You will contribute to modeling, simulation, and data analysis, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and document findings in technical reports and journal articles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Interest in optics, photonics and laser systems for defense applications.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• On-site work at APL with occasional travel; capable of obtaining Interim Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support projects as an individual technical contributor using software tools for modeling and data analysis.
• Set up experiments and collect data in optical laboratories; analyze results.
• Collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams; document work in reports, proceedings, and papers.
