Job summary

eyeSMILE Vision in Hays, Kansas is hiring a full-time Optician to join a friendly, patient-focused team. You’ll help patients pick frames and lenses, take measurements, and ensure every eyewear fits their prescription and lifestyle.

We offer training toward ABO certification, competitive pay based on experience, health insurance, PTO, paid holidays, dental care, and a supportive small-office environment with Monday-Thursday and Friday mornings.

Qualifications

• Previous optician experience or ABO certification is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Retail, optical, or healthcare experience is helpful.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable learning and using basic technology.
• Dependable, organized, and willing to learn.
• A warm, friendly team player who takes pride in their work.

Responsibilities

• Help patients select frames and lenses that fit their prescription, lifestyle, and budget.
• Take accurate measurements, fit, adjust, and repair eyewear.
• Explain lens options, treatments, and coatings clearly and without pressure.
• Place and track orders with optical labs and carefully check finished eyewear for accuracy.
• Assist patients with eyewear questions and adjustments.
• Maintain an organized, welcoming optical area.
• Help manage and maintain optical inventory.
• Provide a positive, professional experience for every patient.
