Job summary

Tennessee Eye Care Lenoir City, a division of Summit Medical Group, is seeking an Optician for a full-time, on-site role. You will fill written optical prescriptions, help patients choose frames, and ensure proper fit and care of eyeglasses and contacts.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, experience dispensing corrective lenses preferred, and customer service or sales experience required. Certification is preferred but not required. Equal Opportunity Employer.

• Experience dispensing corrective lenses preferred.
• Customer service and sales experience required.
• Certified Dispensing Optician preferred but not required; no license required.

Responsibilities

• Fills eyeglasses and contact lenses by prescriptions and determines clients’ current prescriptions.
• Identifies patient needs and recommends lenses, coatings, and frames.
• Helps patients select frames by offering commentary on styles, colors, and measurements.
• Ensures eyeglasses fit by adjusting frames.
• Educates customers on eyeglass and contact lens care and use.
• Sells optical goods by displaying sunglasses and optical supplies.
• Updates knowledge by reading publications and participating in professional organizations.
• Assists with filing insurance claims.
• Reviews prescriptions and orders based on medical charts.
• Operates manual lensometer and other tools for proper fitting.
• Manages inventory of frames and contacts to ensure variety and satisfaction.
• Communicates with physicians about prescriptions and eye-related issues.
• Assists technicians as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to corporate compliance.
