Job summary

Thomas Eye Group is seeking a skilled Optician to join our team in East Cobb Marietta, GA. You will measure, design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames based on prescriptions, while delivering personalized service to help patients see better.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, ABO licensing welcomed, and hands-on experience in eyewear dispensaries, including final inspection with a lensometer. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Compulink EMR is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • ABO and Georgia Licensed Dispensing Optician certification welcomed.
  • Experience in an eyeglass dispensary and lensometer verification; ability to perform adjustments and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames per optical prescriptions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist patients in selecting frames for best fit.
  • Prepare work orders for optical labs and ensure accuracy of finished lenses; adjust as needed.
  • Manage eyewear orders, inspect quality, and maintain inventory levels.
  • Educate patients on eyeglass and contact lens care and provide follow-up services including adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design & Fit: Measure, design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for patients based on optical prescriptions.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, assisting patients in selecting frames and ensuring the perfect fit for their eyewear.
  • Precision & Accuracy: Prepare work orders for optical labs, verify the exactness of finished lenses, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Eyewear Management: Manage eyewear orders, perform quality inspections, and maintain inventory levels.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care, and provide follow-up services including adjustments and repairs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with prescribing providers, collaborate with existing personnel for a cohesive experience for our patients, and assist in training new personnel.

Qualifications
  • Education:Minimum High school diploma or GED required.
  • Licensing: ABO and Georgia Licensed Dispensing Optician certification welcomed
  • Experience:Current experience in an eyeglass dispensary, final inspection of eyewear with manual lensometer, ability to do adjustments and repairs of eyewear.
Skills:
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with EMR systems - Compulink experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read a manual lensometer, perform quality checks on eyewear including neutralizing prescriptions, transposing if needed, and troubleshooting any patient issues that may arise from an eyeglass order.
  • Familiarity with contact lens ordering & performing I&Rs.
