Job summary

Thomas Eye Group is seeking a licensed dispensing optician to measure, design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames according to prescriptions. You will assist patients in selecting frames, ensuring the perfect fit, and coordinating with optical labs to ensure accuracy.

The role requires attention to detail, strong customer service, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting. On-site day shifts with competitive pay and opportunities for continuing education grants.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• Licensing: ABO and Georgia Licensed Dispensing Optician certification welcomed.
• Experience: Experience in an eyeglass dispensary with final inspection of eyewear using a manual lensometer; able to do adjustments and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Measure, design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames based on prescriptions.
• Assist patients in selecting frames for a proper fit and comfort.
• Prepare work orders for optical labs and verify finished lenses.
• Manage eyewear orders and perform quality checks.
• Educate patients on eyewear care and provide follow-up adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Fit: Measure, design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for patients based on optical prescriptions.
• Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, assisting patients in selecting frames and ensuring the perfect fit for their eyewear.
• Precision & Accuracy: Prepare work orders for optical labs, verify the exactness of finished lenses, and make necessary adjustments.
• Eyewear Management: Manage eyewear orders, perform quality inspections, and maintain inventory levels.
• Patient Education: Educate patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care, and provide follow-up services including adjustments and repairs.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with prescribing providers, collaborate with existing personnel for a cohesive experience for our patients, and assist in training new personnel.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with EMR systems - Compulink experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to read a manual lensometer, perform quality checks on eyewear including neutralizing prescriptions, transposing if needed, and troubleshooting any patient issues that may arise from an eyeglass order.
• Familiarity with contact lens ordering & performing I&Rs.
