Job summary

Little Rock Eye Clinic, LLP is seeking a dedicated Optician to join our team in Little Rock, AR. You will guide patients in selecting eyewear and lenses, measure ocular dimensions, and ensure accurate prescriptions are fulfilled by technicians.

You will use calipers and lensometers, adjust frames, and educate patients on lens care and maintenance while handling prescriptions and records with a courteous, professional attitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior optical experience preferred but not required.
• Must enjoy assisting patients and demonstrate a positive, professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
• Take customer information and measurements of the ocular area.
• Recommend frames or contact lenses that suit the customer's style and specifications.
• Adjust and fit frames according to prescriptions and customer specifications.
• Prepare work orders for Optical Technicians to manufacture lenses.
• Use specialized equipment such as calipers, lensometers, and lens gauges.
• Keep inventory on frames and contact lenses to ensure product variety and satisfaction.
• Repair broken frames.
• Educate customers on wear and maintenance of glasses and contacts.
• Perform administrative duties, such as managing prescriptions and customer records.

Job description

Position Description:

To be successful as an Optician, you should have strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. You should be able to recommend specialized eyewear such as for sports and occupational use, as well as informing on and recommending tints and anti-reflective coatings.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Optician Responsibilities:

• Obtaining patient prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
• Taking customer information and measurements of the ocular area.
• Recommending frames or contact lenses that suit the customer's style, face, and specifications.
• Adjusting and fitting frames according to the prescriptions and customer's specifications, as well as to suit the customer's face.
• Preparing work orders for the Optical Technicians to use to manufacture the lenses.
• Using specialized equipment, such as calipers, lensometers, and lens gauges.
• Keeping inventory on frames and contact lenses to ensure product variety and customer satisfaction.
• Repairing broken frames.
• Educating customers on how to wear and maintain glasses and contact lenses.
• Performing administrative duties, such as managing prescriptions, customer records, and insurance.
