Job summary

Texas State Optical (TSO) in Houston is seeking an experienced Optician to join one of Houston's premier eye care teams. You will help patients select frames and lenses that fit prescription, lifestyle and personal style, and educate them on Neurolens, blue-light protection, and premium coatings.

We offer an attractive hourly wage with uncapped commissions and team bonuses. The schedule is Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, with Sundays closed.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of optical dispensing or optical sales experience.
• Strong knowledge of frames, lenses, and premium optical products.
• Excellent sales and relationship-building skills.
• Outstanding customer service with a compassionate, patient-first approach.
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to support the team wherever needed.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescription and lifestyle.
• Educate patients on premium vision solutions including Neurolens®, blue-light protection, digital lenses, polarized lenses, and specialty coatings.
• Take precise measurements to ensure accurate eyewear fabrication.
• Adjust, fit, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear.
• Process insurance claims and submit accurate laboratory orders.
• Confirm appointments and schedule follow-up optical visits.
• Manage recall opportunities for patients due for eyewear updates.
• Build lasting relationships that encourage patient loyalty and referrals.
• Collaborate with doctors and teammates to ensure exceptional continuity of care.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive hourly pay: $18–$22 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
