Job summary

You will collaborate with optometrists to interpret prescriptions and advise on lens options, coatings, and patient care. Responsibilities also include maintaining inventory, processing orders, and performing quality checks

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of optics and lens technologies.
• Experience coordinating with optometrists and eye exams.
• Excellent customer service in a clinical or retail optical setting.
• Ability to assist with pre-test setup and patient flow.
• Attention to detail with optical tools and equipment.
• Good communication of eyewear options to patients.
• ABO certification or equivalent is a plus.

Role Description

The Optician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Hillsboro, OR. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and specialty lenses, taking accurate measurements, and ensuring proper frame and lens adjustments. The Optician will coordinate with optometrists to interpret prescriptions, advise patients on lens options and coatings, and support follow-up care related to eyewear. The role involves maintaining inventory, processing orders, and performing quality checks on completed eyewear. Providing clear communication, education on eyewear care, and a high level of customer service to ensure patient satisfaction are key components of this position.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of optics and lens technologies, including frame fitting and lens measurements.
• Experience supporting optometry services, including understanding of prescriptions and coordination with eye exams.
• Demonstrated customer service and customer satisfaction skills in a clinical or retail optical setting.
• Ability to assist with basic eye exam preparation and patient flow in an eye care practice.
• Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and comfort working with optical tools and equipment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to explain eyewear options in clear, accessible language.
• Prior experience as an optician or optical technician preferred; ABO certification or equivalent is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site full time in Hillsboro, OR, including collaborating with a multidisciplinary eye care team.
