Qualifications

• Experience in a glass precision polishing/ optics shop.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with hand tools and measurement equipment (autocollimator, interferometer, digital indicators).
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Basic math proficiency.
• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and ERP systems).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with excellent vision skills (under a microscope).
• Safety-focused; comfortable standing and working with large machines.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates precision polishing machines to perform glass polishing to close tolerances with predefined methods.
• Makes super polishing adjustments to meet angles, surface finish, and flatness specifications.
• Selects, mounts, and aligns various attachments and standard tooling.
• Interprets engineering specifications and uses precision measuring instruments.
• Makes standard shop calculations.
• Monitors and verifies quality per SPC or other control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates a variety of precision polishing machines to perform quantity production glass polishing to close tolerances where polishing methods and sequences are predetermined and established tooling provided.
• Performs operations such as super polishing glass surfaces to meet requirements on angles, surface finish, flatness and more.
• Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized attachments and standard tooling
• Interprets engineering specifications; uses a variety of precision measuring instruments.
• Makes standard shop calculations.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

• Experience working in a glass precision polishing/ optics shop environment.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely in a Manufacturing Environment.
• Experience with hand tools and measurement equipment, such as, autocollimator, interferometer and digital indicators.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Basic math proficiency.
• Strong attention to details and commitment to quality control.
• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and ERP Systems).
• Candidate to have minimum of 5 years’ experience with excellent vision skills (especially under a microscope)
• Attention to safety (working with large machines) and ability to spend large portion of the day standing and moving as that is typically required in this area.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience

• Maintaining / Setting-up polishing tables to surface finishing and flatness requirements.
• Ability to participate in team investigations of a process development nature are expected.
• Familiarity with SPC, LEAN desirable

Education

• Highschool Diploma / Equivalent and work experience that will allow successful performance.
