Job summary

ios Optics, Loomis, CA, is seeking an optical fabrication technician to perform blocking, grinding, de-blocking, edging, core drilling and polishing from prints with minimal supervision.

You will work independently or in a team, follow the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015, read blueprints, and use precise measurement tools to ensure quality while maintaining a safe, productive工作 environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of hands-on experience in precision optical fabrication (blocking, grinding, edging, core drilling and/or polishing).
• Strong math background including fractions, ratios, unit conversions, decimals, percentages and geometry.
• Ability to read and interpret prints/blueprints and drawings.
• Experience with digital measurement devices (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, collimators).
• Proficient in MS Office; able to learn ERP software.
• Able to work independently and in a team; adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Comply with safety requirements and Cautions.

Responsibilities

• Block, grind, de-block, edge and core-drill as assigned.
• Polish optics as needed and develop polishing skills.
• Perform visual inspections for fabrication defects.
• Maintain travel logs and job logs daily.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Follow ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

Department: Fabrication

Location: Loomis, CA (on-site)

Summary

Perform a wide range of optical fabrication operations, including blocking, grinding, de-blocking, edging, core drilling and polishing, to produce quality precision optics. Works from prints and work instructions with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working both independently and as part of a team, you will be responsible for some or all of the following:

• Block, grind, de-block, edge and core-drill as assigned
• Perform polishing operations as assigned and continue to develop polishing skills
• Perform visual inspections of optics for defects related to fabrication
• Complete Traveler & Job Log completely and thoroughly daily
• Keep equipment and work area clean
• Follow the company's Quality Management System (QMS) per ISO 9001:2015
• Other duties as assigned

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of hands-on experience in precision optical fabrication (blocking, grinding, edging, core drilling and/or polishing)
• Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills
• Strong background in mathematics including fractions, ratios, unit conversions, decimal arithmetic, percentages and geometry
• Able to accurately use digital measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, collimators and other measurement equipment
• Able to read and interpret prints/blueprints and drawing specifications
• Able to maintain workflow in a dynamic environment and organize and prioritize multiple jobs daily
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Working knowledge of computers and MS Office (Word and Excel)
• Willingness to learn manufacturing and ERP software used in production; training will be provided
• Excellent manual dexterity, hand/eye coordination and attention to detail
• Ability to understand and follow all safety requirements and cautions

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit, and frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. May occasionally lift 10–50 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds. Special vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Manufacturing environment with loud noise. Occasionally required to work near toxic or caustic chemicals, and regularly required to work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and near moving mechanical parts.
