Job summary

Samtec, Inc. in Vista, CA, is seeking engineering co-ops and interns for its Optical Group to support FireFly™ and HALO™ transceiver development. The role requires a minimum of twenty hours per week with flexible M–F hours and pays $22.00 per hour.

Co-ops may join Samtec's student program for tuition assistance and participate in the 401(k) plan. You will work with electrical, mechanical, optical, process, data, and software engineers on challenging projects and gain cross-disciplinary exposure.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Process/Industrial Engineering; Physics; Data Science; or related field
• Junior/Senior or graduate level preferred, or exceptional freshman/sophomore with related experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good time management; able to manage multiple projects
• Detail-oriented; comfortable handling small/delicate objects
• Eager to learn and pick up new skills

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned projects within the Optical Group
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, optical, process, data, and software engineers
• Maintain customer focus and initiate follow-up actions
• Learn basics across disciplines and technologies as assigned
• Support design, reliability testing, failure analysis, and advanced process development as applicable
