Job summary

Samtec Inc. is seeking engineering Co-Ops and interns for its Optical Group in Vista, CA. The role focuses on developing FireFly™ and HALO™ optical transceiver product lines in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants must be enrolled in a bachelor’s program in engineering or a related field at a local university. The schedule starts at 20 hours per week, typically Mon-Fri 8AM-6PM, paying $22.00 per hour. Co-ops may join Samtec's student tuition assistance program and 401k plan.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Process/Industrial Engineering; Physics; Data Science; or related field
• Freshman/Sophomore/Junior with demonstrated hobby, project, or internship experience in a related field
• Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective time management with ability to manage multiple projects
• Detail-oriented
• Adept at working with small/delicate objects
• Eager to gain new expertise and quick to pick up required skills

Responsibilities

• Co-ops and interns will work with electrical, mechanical, optical, process, data, and software engineers within the Optical Group.
• The position will be responsible for completing assigned projects, building trust with team members, maintaining customer focus, as well as initiating and following up on actions taken.
