Job summary

Warby Parker is seeking an Optical Surfacing Process Engineer to expand and optimize our in-house lens surfacing capabilities in Henderson, NV. You will own the surfacing department, drive high-quality lens production, and translate designs into automated tooling and SOPs.

Responsibilities include optimizing parameters, ensuring pass yields, interfacing with OEMs, and leading engineering projects with financial impact. A hands-on leader with 5+ years in optical manufacturing is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in optical lens surfacing and manufacturing project leadership.
• Ability to translate complex optical concepts into clear SOPs and work instructions.
• Experience coordinating with OEMs and cross-functional teams to improve yield and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own daily surfacing operations, blocking, tapering, generating, de-blocking, cleaning and hard coating.
• Optimize surfacing parameters across lens materials, designs and coatings for yield and optical accuracy.
• Establish quality controls and process controls to improve first-time yields and reduce scrap.
• Collaborate with maintenance to maximize machine uptime and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Build business cases with finance to justify capital expenditures and align with goals.
• Lead cost/quality/capacity optimization projects for the surfacing line.
