Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks an Optical Payload Manufacturing Engineer in Acton, MA. You will support the manufacturing production process of optical systems and payloads, focusing on integration, testing, and assembly of components and final products.

The role involves hands-on work, development of manufacturing methods, and collaboration with design engineering to optimize equipment layouts and production sequences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Five or more years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Ability to develop and communicate new concepts and coordinate work phases.
• Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequences and processes for parts and assemblies.
• Hands-on assembly and test of opto-mechanical systems.
• Set up and maintain vibration, EMI, thermal and TVAC testing capabilities.
• Provide technical expertise on thermal vacuum systems and cryogenic/high-vacuum systems.
• Designs equipment layouts and sequences of production operations for tooling and equipment.
• Coordinate with design engineering on specifications and release of new products.
