Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an Optical Network Development Engineer to build, deploy, and scale the AWS network across multiple global data centers.

You will work with cross-functional teams, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction while enabling rapid rollouts of new designs and products. The role requires heavy collaboration with network, systems, and software engineers and a strong background in DWDM, optical network design, and Python scripting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 4+ years of rollout and maintenance experience with DWDM networks and optical network technologies.
• 1+ years of professional development experience with Python or similar automation scripting.

Responsibilities

• Create, deploy, and scale AWS optical networks across multiple data centers.
• Collaborate with automation teams to define scalable tooling.
• Lead projects in network sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, and technology refresh.
• Provide critical network support to diagnose, mitigate, and resolve large-scale networking events.
• Operate and troubleshoot routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configurations; interact with Unix systems and networking software tools.
• Document and enforce network standards and procedures; drive simple, sustainable solutions.
