Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an Optical Network Engineer to design, deploy, and operate one of the world’s largest optical networks supporting AWS services.

You will lead development of innovative optical solutions, work with hardware and software teams, and drive scale to meet capacity demands. You will collaborate across the AWS network, building test plans, validating modules, and ensuring reliability and cost efficiency while maintaining security and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of expertise in optics and optical communications.
• 1+ years of experience with optical systems and transmission systems.
• 1+ years of experience developing test scripts for optics validation and characterization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features and come up with implementation plans for incorporating them into the network.
• Collaborate with vendors/manufactures in defining and developing test plan for Optical Modules.
• Automate optical test plans and qualify optical modules.
• Work with network operations team in identifying operation issues and improving quality and RMA process.
• Develop and track metrics around data collected from the production fleet
