Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking an Optical Measurements Systems Engineer onsite in Erwin. The role covers development and deployment of optical and computer vision–based measurement systems, supporting metrology, inspection, and testing of CET products.

You will collaborate with development, quality, IT, purchasing, and operations to transfer technology from development to production, design experiments, and train staff in system use and maintenance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 3 years of hands-on experience with machine vision and metrology equipment; or PhD in one of these fields.
• Training or hands-on experience with vision systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and implement optical and computer vision-based measurement and instrumentation systems.
• Transfer technology from development to manufacturing.
• Leverage external suppliers for system integration.
• Define Scopes of Work, quote when appropriate, issue Purchase Orders, track supplier work, and approve invoices.
• Design experiments and analyze data to identify and implement improvements to measurement systems or production processes.
• Create/update documentation for release to production, including Machine Specifications, operating procedures, and drawing packages.
• Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel on how to use and maintain measurement systems.
• Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting using data and performance analysis of the installed systems.
