Job summary

Teradyne’s Innovation Lab within the Semiconductor Test Division seeks an Optical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in designing and validating optical systems for imaging, illumination, and metrology solutions.

You will mentor engineers, manage schedules and resources, collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems teams, and drive design reviews and best practices while supporting product introduction and field issue resolution.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of optical engineering experience, including hands-on optical design and testing.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of imaging systems, optical instrumentation, lens design, illumination, and optical testing.
• Experience with optical design tools such as Zemax, Code V, or similar software.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in semiconductor test, machine vision, or automated inspection systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of optical engineers.
• Manage project schedules, priorities, and resource allocation.
• Oversee the design, development, and validation of optical systems, including imaging, illumination, and metrology solutions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering teams to develop integrated products.
• Work with customers and suppliers to define requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering best practices.
• Support product introduction, manufacturing, and field issue resolution.
• Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
