Job summary

Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc. in Middleton, WI is seeking interns for Summer 2027 to work on on-site optical design, testing, and QA for ETC lighting fixtures.

The program provides hands-on experience in lens design, illumination design, colorimetry, photometric testing, and related areas within the R&D team. You'll use Zemax and SolidWorks while contributing to development efforts, test procedures, and potential manufacturing support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• Working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering or related field.
• Junior or Senior year or have taken relevant courses in Optical Engineering.
• 1-2 years post high school education in area of specialization.
• GPA: 3.0 or higher.

Assignment may involve lens design & analysis, illumination design, colorimetry, photometric testing, image quality assessment relating to entertainment or architectural LED lighting fixtures. May also involve QA/Manufacturing, support of existing fixtures, or new lighting fixtures currently in development. Become familiar with tools and software applications (Zemax, SolidWorks) utilized by the R&D department.
