Job summary

Corning, Inc. seeks a Summer Engineering Intern to support the Advanced Optics division in Fairport. You will model, tolerance, and analyze high-precision optical systems from concept to completion, working with the optical design team.

Ideal candidates are BS/MS candidates with optics coursework, MATLAB/Python skills, and strong communication. Housing/travel assistance is provided; 10 weeks in Summer 2027 (May–August) with potential full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• BS or MS candidate; must have completed at least three years of higher education.
• Coursework in geometrical optics, physical optics, aberration theory and interferometry.
• Working knowledge of analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or Visual Basic programming in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Model, tolerance and analyze complex optical systems from concept to completion.
• Join the optical design team in Corning Fairport and support manufacturing and engineering for world-class optics.
• Assist with housing and travel; deliver a final project presentation.
