Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking an Optical Engineer to own the physical optical layer of our AI compute fabrics. You will manage fiber layout, link design, connector architecture, and production of a scalable plant for AI cluster production.

You will evaluate optics and connectivity, perform factory tests, and lead commissioning across manufacturing lines, with travel to sites as needed. A technical Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or related field.
• 2+ years of professional experience in fiber layout, optical link design, or datacenter HPC optical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end optical and fiber design for AI training fabrics: fiber cabling, polarity, and connector strategy.
• Write and verify link budgets for scale-out and scale-up interconnects (SMF/MMF, InfiniBand, Ethernet).
• Develop and implement factory tests for optical interconnects including loss and polarization.
• Select and qualify optics, fiber, and connectivity; own vendor bring-up and fleet reliability.
• Deploy and verify end-to-end optical interconnect into the manufacturing line.
• Lead commissioning and debug: OTDR, BER/FEC stats, and live fault analysis.
