Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking an Optical Engineer to own the physical optical layer of our AI compute fabric. You will design fiber layouts, manage link budgets, and drive performance across the manufacturing line from cool rooms to rack integration.

You will qualify optics and components, lead vendor bring-ups, and implement tests to ensure reliability at 800G+ speeds. Travel to manufacturing and datacenter sites is required, with long hours during releases.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or related field.
2+ years in fiber layout, optical link design, or datacenter/HPC optical engineering.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end optical and fiber design for AI training and inference fabrics.
Write and verify link budgets for scale-out and scale-up interconnects.
Develop and implement factory tests for optical interconnects.
Select and qualify optics, fiber, and connectivity; own vendor bring-up and fleet reliability.
Deploy and verify end-to-end optical interconnect into manufacturing.
Lead commissioning and debug across the line and labs.
Evolve connectivity toward higher speeds and density.
Collaborate with mechanical and network teams on cabling and rack layouts.
