Job summary

SpaceXAI’s Data Center Engineering team designs training and inference compute clusters, pushing optical systems to the limit of physics. You will own the physical optical layer of that computer: fiber layout, link design, optics selection, and production of a scalable plant for AI clusters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, optical engineering, physics or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in fiber layout, optical link design, and/or datacenter/HPC optical engineering.
• Experience owning fiber/optical design installed in a datacenter or AI compute environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end optical and fiber design for AI training and inference fabrics, including cabling and architecture.
• Write and verify link budgets for scale-out interconnects and related components.
• Develop factory tests for optical interconnects and production-ready protocols.
• Select and qualify optics, fiber, and connectivity; manage vendor bring-up and fleet reliability.
• Deploy and verify end-to-end optical interconnects in the manufacturing line.
• Lead commissioning and debugging, including measurements and defect analysis.
• Advance connectivity toward higher speeds and density for AI clusters.
• Collaborate with mechanical and network teams on structured cabling and rack design.
