Job summary

SpaceXSI is seeking an Optical Engineer to own the physical optical layer of our AI compute fabrics, including fiber layout, link design, and production of scalable optical systems. You will work with mechanical and network teams to design cabling, test fixtures, and factory integration for high-density AI clusters.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/optical engineering, physics or related field.
• 2+ years of professional experience in fiber layout and/or datacenter optical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end optical and fiber design for AI training and inference fabrics.
• Write and verify link budgets for scale-out scale-up interconnects.
• Develop and implement factory tests for optical interconnects.
• Select and qualify optics, fiber, and connectivity; own vendor bring-up and reliability.
• Deploy and verify end-to-end optical interconnect into manufacturing.
• Lead commissioning and debug in production settings.
• Evolve connectivity toward higher speed (800G/1.6T) and density.
• Collaborate with mechanical and network teams on cabling and rack design.
