Job summary

VIAVI Solutions in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our optics manufacturing team. You will develop, optimize, and maintain advanced coating processes, applying data-driven methods and SPC to improve yield, quality, and throughput on the production floor.

You will collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Maintenance, work hands-on with deposition systems, metrology, and safety controls, and drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma practices in a fast-paced

Qualifications

3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a related field.
MS or BS in Physics, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
Proven track record improving and supporting manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of PFMEA, CAPA, 8D, SPC, and quality systems.
Experience with MS Office, advanced Excel, and data-driven problem solving.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
ITAR eligible US persons only; Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

Process development, optimization, and maintenance of optical coating production.
Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Provide production floor support and cross-functional collaboration.
Apply SPC and Lean/Six Sigma to drive cost, quality, and throughput improvements.
Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production to introduce new products to manufacturing.
