VIAVI Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Equipment Engineering team responsible for the production optical coating equipment. Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5+ years designing precision electro‑mechanical systems.
• Experience with NFPA 70/79/70E standards preferred.
• Proficiency in electrical schematic design software (SolidWorks Electrical, Promis.e).
• Familiarity with PLC and HMI programming (ladder logic).
• Strong analytical and cross‑functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new electrical/electronic hardware for large-scale optical coating equipment from schematics to documentation.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, assemblies, BOMs, and CAD files.
• Manage equipment installations, qualifications, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
• Select components by analyzing specifications and reliability.
• Troubleshoot electrical/electronic/electro‑mechanical issues and drive design changes.
• Conduct experiments, analyze data, and inform design decisions.
• Provide production support and occasional off-hours coverage to maximize uptime.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering on complex challenges.
