Job summary

VIAVI Solutions in Santa Rosa, CA, seeks a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own equipment and processes on the production floor for optical component finishing. You will lead continuous improvement using Lean-Sigma, SPC and DOE, drive root causes, and ensure traceability of laser-marked parts.

The role requires strong data analysis, ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and maintenance, and experience with dicing, beveling, and other optical finishing.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or related engineering discipline; MS preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering in a production environment.
• Hands-on equipment and process troubleshooting on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve manufacturing equipment and processes; troubleshoot on the floor and drive root cause closure.
• Build and maintain work instructions, fixtures, and shop-floor tools; train operators.
• Program and maintain processing equipment (laser marking); develop recipe programs and ensure traceability.
• Conduct failure analysis on nonconforming product and feed improvements back into the process.
• Lead Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and DOE to reduce scrap and increase throughput.
• Support dicing, beveling/rounding, and other optical finishing operations.
