Job summary

Corning Incorporated seeks an experienced project leader to manage capital projects within the Optical Communications segment. You will define scope, lead cross‑disciplinary teams, and ensure on‑budget, on‑schedule delivery of fiber and cable capacity initiatives.

Responsibilities include developing budgets, coordinating design and procurement, and reporting progress to senior leadership. Travel up to 25% is possible as projects advance.

Qualifications

• General experience with manufacturing project management.
• Experience overseeing project equipment and processes.
• Ability to articulate project needs and provide input to leadership as well as product line leaders.
• Engineering degree with experience in a project manufacturing environment.
• English language fluency.

Responsibilities

• Communicates Corning project safety practices and ensures compliance.
• Focuses on fiber and cable related capacity and technology delivery projects.
• Develops budgets, writes purchase orders, approves change orders and tracks and controls project spending.
• Writes the appropriations request and obtains approval.
• Determines the personnel requirements needed to implement the project and leads interviews and resource selection.
• Leads projects in accordance with the Corning Capital Process (Stage Gate) guidelines.
• Schedules and leads project team meetings and steering team meetings.
• Uses decision-making tools to support vendor selection and design decisions.
• Provides supervision of project team members from various disciplines.
• Develops project schedule and timeline with support of the team leveraging scheduling resources.
• Leads the development of the project scope including approvals and change enforcement.
• Summarizes progress and provides verbal and written report-outs to leadership.
