Job summary

Riverside Health System in Hampton, Virginia seeks an Optician/Optical Retail Associate to design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames per prescriptions. You will assist patients, prepare lab orders, verify finished lenses, and maintain inventory while ensuring high patient service levels.

The role includes Medicare/compliance duties, collecting co-pays, handling insurance authorizations, and performing bench work in the optical lab. Previous optical retail experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1-3 years Optical Retail experience preferred.
• 1-3 years Retail experience preferred.
• Familiarity with insurance claims and billing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Medicare claim information no less than 80% compliant to Medicare standards.
• Collects insurance plan authorizations and explains plan coverage to patients.
• Collects co-pays and surcharges; enters patient data into the computer system.
• Maintains frame inventory and displays of optical merchandise.
• Performs optical lab duties and quality inspections; remakes as needed.
• Ensures patient satisfaction and resolves issues with management approval.
• Tracks average sale and reviews lab invoices for pricing accuracy.
