Job description

Puget Sound Eye Care is seeking a full-time Optical Assistant to join our team. Our practice has two locations in Bellevue and Seattle, both easily accessible by car and public transportation. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working in either office, but this position will primarily be based in our Seattle location.

As an Optical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting patients by assisting with frame and lens selection, eyewear fitting and adjustments, order processing, and providing exceptional customer service.

We are a well-established optometry practice with 48 years of service to the community. Our fast-paced office provides a dynamic work environment with a diverse patient base, including a heavy pediatric focus with patients as young as two years old. We also offer specialty care, including scleral lenses, ortho-k lenses, and other specialty contact lens management, giving team members exposure to a broad scope of practice in the optical field.

No experience required. We are willing to train the right candidate! This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with patients, learning new skills, and being part of a friendly, hardworking team.

What We Offer
  • Competitive pay of $22 - $25 per hour, based on education and experience.

  • Health insurance benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and HSA options.

  • 401(k) with company match.

  • Paid time off, including vacation and sick time.

  • Paid holidays.

  • On-the-job training and continuing education opportunities.

  • A supportive, fast-paced work environment with exposure to pediatric care and specialty lens services.

  • Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays.

What You Will Do
  • Assist patients with selecting frames and lens options based on their needs and preferences.

  • Take basic measurements and assist with fitting and adjusting eyewear.

  • Explain lens options, coatings, warranties, and other optical products.

  • Prepare and process eyewear orders and follow up on orders as needed.

  • Perform minor eyewear repairs and adjustments.

  • Provide friendly, professional customer service throughout the optical experience.

  • Maintain an organized optical area and assist with inventory and displays.

  • Process payments, insurance information, and other routine optical paperwork.

What We Are Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese is a plus.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Personable, reliable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced office with patients of all ages, including children.

  • Strong sales skills and the ability to help patients understand eyewear options.

  • A team player who enjoys working with others and helping patients feel cared for.
