Job summary

Key Technology in West Sacramento, CA seeks an Applications Engineering Technician (Optical) to conduct tests on food and non-food products using optical sorting solutions. You’ll tailor configurations, illuminate sensing setups, and analyze results to meet specific customer guidelines.

You will support sales and service teams, travel 15–25%, and work with engineering to improve equipment performance. A BS degree with related experience is preferred; some travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 1–2 years related experience preferred.
• Candidates should have knowledge of image processing and vision systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop application-specific software solutions for customer needs.
• Determine material handling, sensing illumination and algorithm requirements for optical sorters.
• Develop proposals to improve equipment performance and support standardization/QA.
• Provide on-site and remote support for new applications and optical sorting systems.
• Plan and conduct equipment tests for customer products in labs and on-site.
• Record test procedures, results and recommendations for changes.
• Prepare trip and test reports with data analyses and conclusions.
• Analyze test data against specs and adjust equipment to meet targets.
• Author performance specs based on test data and feed findings to sales/engineering teams.
