Operations Training Instructor / Senior Operations Training Instructor
Position at Dresden Nuclear Power Station in Morris, Illinois. This multi‑level position can be filled at the Operations Training Instructor (OTI) level or at the Senior Operations Training Instructor (SOTI) level. Job codes: OTI – XKAG, SOTI – XKAK.
Primary Purpose of Position
Demonstrates mastery of skills and extensive subject‑matter knowledge in carrying out assignments associated with the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and proposed modification of plant‑specific nuclear licensed operations training programs.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
- Drive the Clean Energy Center (CEC) and personnel performance improvement through training, coordinating and conducting performance‑based operations training programs for Reactor Operator (RO) and Non‑Licensed Operator (NLO) as required.
- Ensure training programs are current by incorporating information from INPO SPO reports, Constellation NERs, NRC bulletins, CEC design changes, procedural changes, new regulations, and training effectiveness reports.
- Prepare trainee examinations, conduct evaluations in classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments, provide counseling, evaluate results, and develop individualized training programs.
- Support CEC and fleet in business initiatives, project management, refuel outage support, emergency preparedness duties, and special projects.
- Participate in NRC, INPO and management audits, preparing responses to audit findings.
- Maintain knowledge of plant operations, training skills and techniques in line with responsibility to develop and conduct effective, high‑quality training.
- Supervise collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports required to document training program activities.
- Achieve Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification within 18 months of assuming the position.
- Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call outs, and support of outage activities.
Minimum Qualifications – Operations Training Instructor (XKAG)
- High school diploma/GED with 6 years of related experience (test reactor, commercial, industrial, or military power plant operator) OR
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline, education, or training with 4 years of related experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical or nuclear) or related science, education or training with 2 years of related experience.
- Requirements meet or exceed ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 (4.5.4) standard.
- Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access, and favorable medical examination and/or testing.
Minimum Qualifications – Senior Operations Training Instructor (XKAK)
- Previous equipment operator with 6 years of related experience OR
- Associate’s degree in technical discipline, education, or training with 4 years of nuclear technical background or 6 years of related experience OR
- Current or previous licensed Reactor Operator or SRO certification with 4 years of related experience OR
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical or nuclear) or related science, education or training with 3 years of nuclear technical background or 4 years of related experience.
- Current or previous SRO license.
- Requirements meet or exceed ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 (4.4.3) standard.
- Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access, and favorable medical examination and/or testing.
Preferred Qualifications – Operations Training Instructor (XKAG)
- Experience in commercial nuclear training.
- Knowledge of and experience with the systematic approach to training (SAT).

- Experience in commercial nuclear training.

Salary and Benefits
Operations Training Instructor: $107,000–$119,000 (salary varies with experience) plus comprehensive benefits package including bonus, 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase program, medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, paid time off, and more.
Senior Operations Training Instructor: $139,500–$155,000 (salary varies with experience) plus comprehensive benefits package including bonus, 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase program, medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, paid time off, and more.
