Responsibilities

  • Provide phone, email, virtual, and face-to-face faculty support.
  • Provide basic computer technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Assist faculty with navigating educational technologies, including Canvas LMS and other digital teaching tools, by providing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Support instructional design, accessibility, and course development initiatives.
  • Assist with creative projects, including video production and editing, graphic design, web design, and multimedia production.
  • Assist Office of Teaching and Learning staff with a variety of projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas for improving documentation, processes, workflows, and support services.

Teaching and Learning Assistant

The Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Teaching and Learning Assistants. This position offers the opportunity to work in an innovative, collaborative, and technology-focused environment supporting faculty in teaching, learning, and creative media projects.

Teaching and Learning Assistants provide technical, instructional, and creative support while gaining valuable experience with educational technologies, multimedia production, instructional design, and customer service.

No prior expertise is required: we provide training, mentoring, and opportunities to develop new skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide phone, email, virtual, and face-to-face faculty support.
  • Provide basic computer technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Assist faculty with navigating educational technologies, including Canvas LMS and other digital teaching tools, by providing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Support instructional design, accessibility, and course development initiatives.
  • Assist with creative projects, including video production and editing, graphic design, web design, and multimedia production.
  • Assist Office of Teaching and Learning staff with a variety of projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas for improving documentation, processes, workflows, and support services.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service mindset and a commitment to supporting faculty and colleagues.
  • Technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, common web browsers, and the ability to quickly learn and support new software and educational technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizations, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Passion for emerging technologies, educational software, and a strong desire to explore, learn, and apply new digital tools.
  • Creative, problem-solving mindset with an interest in digital media and content creation.
  • Innovative, adaptable, and willing to work outside of one's comfort zone in a fast-paced support environment.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: Technical support; customer service; Canvas support and/or support other learning management systems.
  • A sense of humor, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to tackle unfamiliar problems creatively, even when it means trying, failing, learning, and trying again.
