Overview

The Ops Process & Procedures Training Specialist is responsible for working under general supervision to support delivery of operations processes and procedures, and associated training for electric and gas utility personnel. The role assists in preparing work procedures, training materials, coordinating sessions, and maintaining procedural and training records to ensure accurate documentation and compliance. The role builds foundational knowledge of operational procedures and supports consistent application of safety, compliance, and standard practices across the workforce.

Responsibilities

The Ops Process & Procedures Training Specialist position may be hired at the Associate, Intermediate, Senior, or Lead level. The position responsibilities listed below reflect those of the Associate level. Additional/varying responsibilities may be included for other levels of the Ops Process & Procedures Training Specialist role.

  • Deliver standardized operations process, and procedures and training sessions for electric and gas personnel, ensuring clear communication of content and adherence to established training guidelines
  • Support preparation of work procedures, training material, job aids and presentations by updating content based on approved procedures, system changes, and feedback from senior trainers
  • Assist in coordinating logistics for procedure reviews and training sessions, including scheduling, materials setup, and participant communication to ensure smooth and effective training delivery
  • Apply established instructional methods to facilitate classroom and field-based learning, reinforcing understanding of operational procedures, safety practices, and compliance requirements
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and completion data in learning management systems to support compliance and reporting requirements
  • Respond to trainee questions and provide clarification on standard operating procedures, escalating complex technical or procedural issues to senior trainers or SMEs
  • Observe field and operational activities to build foundational understanding of electric and gas processes, procedures, and system operations
  • Support evaluation of training effectiveness through basic assessments and participant feedback, documenting observations for continuous improvement efforts
  • Follow all applicable safety policies and regulatory requirements while delivering and supporting training programs, reinforcing safe work practices in all learning environments
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of training materials with current operational procedures and organizational standards
  • Assist in updating training content to reflect minor procedural changes, ensuring materials remain accurate and relevant for frontline employees
  • Participate in personal development activities to build technical knowledge, instructional skills, and familiarity with utility operations processes and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Associate level:
Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Business or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-to-year basis is required or commensurate work experience is required.

Required Experience
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in operational training, procedure development, work standardization or a related field is required. Industry experience is preferred.
