Job summary

Irving Tissue in Macon, GA is seeking a maintenance/logistics professional to support safe operations and efficient material handling. Responsibilities include operating LGVs, basic PMs, and troubleshooting conveyors, sensors, and actuators.

You will manage inventory cycles, interface with JDE/AWS systems, and perform material inspections while maintaining high accuracy and uptime. For 12-hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends, strong mechanical and tech aptitude is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or trade certification required.
  • Technical certification or coursework in industrial maintenance, automation, logistics or applicable experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with tools and equipment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and technology.
  • Willingness to learn and grow; able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to rotate 12-hour shifts including nights and weekends.
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, material handling, or automated systems operations.
  • Experience with LGVs, PLC-controlled systems, and inventory software (JDE, AWS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in safety programs and inspections; perform Lockout/Tagout; maintain housekeeping.
  • Operate LGVs in automatic and manual modes; perform basic preventive maintenance and troubleshoot alarms, jams, or faults.
  • Handle raw materials, finished goods, and pallets using appropriate equipment; load/unload and inspect materials.
  • Perform cycle counts for inventory accuracy; manage LGV missions and interfaces with systems like JDE, AWS, GUI, Rockwell HMI, and PLC controls.
  • Diagnose and resolve alarms and faults promptly to minimize downtime; escalate material needs clearly.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in safety programs, inspections, and generate improvement ideas. Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures during maintenance activities. Maintain housekeeping standards in all work areas.
  • Operate LGVs (Laser Guided Vehicles) in automatic and manual modes. Perform basic preventive maintenance (PMs) including lubrication, sensor replacement, and alignment checks. Troubleshoot alarms, jams, misaligned pallets, and mechanical faults on conveyors, sensors, and actuators. Adjust system calibration and manage inspection parameters to maintain accuracy.
  • Safely handle raw materials, finished goods, and parent rolls using fork trucks, prong trucks, and roll clamp trucks. Insert raw materials and finished goods into LGV exchange points. Load and unload finished goods, raw material returns, recycled material, and pallet returns. Conduct material inspections to identify damages and discrepancies.
  • Perform Cycle Counts for inventory accuracy. Manage LGV missions, order management, and housekeeping mission creation. Interfaces with systems such as JDE, AWS, GUI, Rockwell HMI, and PLC controls for inventory and operational tasks.
  • Diagnose and resolve alarms and faults promptly to minimize downtime. Escalate material needs and system issues clearly and quickly. Identify and report wear, malfunctions, or unusual equipment behavior.
Qualifications
  • Education Required: High School Diploma, GED or Trade Certification
  • Technical certification or coursework in industrial maintenance, automation, logistics or applicable experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including experience working with tools and /or equipment
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency with computers and technology
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently or as a team member
  • High degree of attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be organized and have demonstrated the ability to multi-task
  • Ability and willingness to learn and grow
  • Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, which include nights and weekends
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, material handling, or automated systems operations.
  • Experience with LGVs, PLC-controlled systems, and inventory management software (JDE, AWS) preferred.
