Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician to diagnose and treat eye diseases in companion animals. The role involves assisting with procedures, surgeries, and anesthesia under specialist guidance.

You will perform basic and advanced ophthalmic tests, help organize equipment, and educate clients on ocular care while supporting a fast-paced emergency and specialty team.

Qualifications

• Diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases in companion animals.
• Assist with anesthetic management during procedures.
• Set-up and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
• Educate clients on their pet's ocular disease and care.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and assist with detailed ocular exams.
• Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (retinal electrophysiology, etc.).
• Set-up and assist with outpatient and surgical ophthalmology procedures, ranging from minor to complex surgeries.
• Place IV catheters and manage fluids for sedated patients; monitor anesthesia (as applicable).
• Assist with eyelid surgeries, corneal grafts, cataract and retinal surgeries; support anesthesia when needed.
