Job summary

North Houston Veterinary Ophthalmology in Spring, TX is seeking a Full-time Veterinary Technician to join our referral ophthalmology team. The ideal candidate supports surgeons and doctors, coordinates patient care, and communicates effectively with clients and staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 3+ years of veterinary technician experience, ability to handle and restrain animals, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and strong record-keeping.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to stand, stoop, or bend for long periods of time.
• Must maintain a professional appearance.
• Must be able to clearly communicate with clients, doctors, and staff.
• Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.

• Must be able to perform venipuncture
• Must be familiar with specimen collecting for lab submission
• Must be able to handle and restrain animals
• Must be proficient in anesthetic induction, maintenance, and monitoring
• Must have at least 3 years veterinary technician experience
• Must be able to place I.V. catheters efficiently
• Must be familiar with veterinary terminology and anatomy
• Must be able to carry up to 40lbs unassisted
• Must be able to maintain accurate medical records, both written and electronically
