Qualifications

• Massachusetts RN license required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative, perioperative, and post-operative nursing care.
• Assess patients, obtain vital signs, and review medical histories.
• Prepare patients for ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• Establish IV access and administer medications as ordered.
• Monitor patients before/after procedures and identify condition changes.
• Collaborate with ophthalmic surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and techs.
• Offer compassionate care and reassurance to anxious patients.
• Deliver thorough post-operative education to patients and families.
• Review discharge instructions and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Adhere to patient-safety, infection-control, and medication-safety standards.
• Contribute to a positive, efficient surgical environment.
