Job summary

American Vision Partners, a leading ophthalmology network, is seeking a Certified Coder with 5+ years of medical billing or coding experience to assign ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT codes for physician services and ASC charges.

Ideal candidates have CPC or CCS certification, ophthalmology exposure, and experience with NextGen. Strong accuracy, confidentiality, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified CPC or CCS required.
• 5+ years medical billing or coding experience.
• Experience in Ophthalmology is a plus.
• Experience working in NextGen in a coding environment.
• Active knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines and coding policies.
• Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts medical record documents to determine CPT procedure codes and ICD-10 diagnoses.
• Reviews physician notes and charts for accuracy.
• Ensures coded services and charges meet guidelines and are properly billed.
• Identifies and optimizes revenue opportunities.
• Collaborates with departments to optimize reimbursement and reduce late charges.
• Follows CMS coding guidelines and uses CPT-4/ICD codes and modifiers.
• Posts, produces and sends charges for invoice vendors and reconciles data.
