Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) seeks a Certified Coder to assign ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT procedure codes for physician services and ASC charges. You will abstract records, review notes for accuracy, and ensure compliant billing.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of medical billing/coding experience, ophthalmology knowledge, and experience with NextGen. The role supports revenue integrity and works with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPC or CCS certification required.
• 5+ years medical billing or coding experience.
• Ophthalmology experience a plus.
• Experience in NextGen coding environment.
• Knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines and coding policies.

Responsibilities

• Abstract medical records to determine CPT/ICD-10 codes.
• Review physician notes and charts for accuracy.
• Ensure billed charges meet guidelines and are complete.
• Identify and optimize revenue opportunities.
• Post charges for invoice vendors and reconcile charges.
• Update demographics to generate clean patient statements.
• Follow department charge reconciliation processes.
